High on chai

I don't know if it happens to you as well, but there are instances, moments in my life, that are invariably associated with a song. And, no, I'm not talking about a situational song or something (eww). It usually happens to be the music that's being played at that moment.

Bon Jovi's 'Say It Isn't So', for example. At home, it's more commonly known as the French Revolution song because it was what I listened to when I was studying history, particularly the French revolution, back in Class X. I aced my history paper in the pre-board exams :)

On my 10-day trip to Dehradun, where my parents are currently posted, Manjee (my sister) obsessively played Smashing Pumpkins, especially 'Pug'. That song will forever be associated with the Dehradun house.

Umm... none of this is supposed to make sense, by the way. No song's meaning has any connection with my life.

Then there's Kevin Little's 'Turn Me On', one of the most vile songs. Ever. That didn't stop me from playing it a couple of times just to see Manj shriek like a banshee. She was ALLERGIC to that song, it is the one thing I know she absolutely cannot tolerate. Quite amusing, it was.

The Corrs will always remind me of the house in the ONGC colony because I listened to little else for a straight two years when I was incarcerated there. In their defence, the Corrs are actually very good.

In Class IX, in Nagpur, a song by Ricky Martin (the one he sang during the football world cup?) actually gave my mum nightmares. Enough said.

Westlife's 'Written In The Stars' has always been a personal favourite. And there's no situation to go with it :) (ha)

Frank Sinatra's 'Strangers In The Night', because someone sang it to me.

I did not just say that! Okay, one should shut up now.

PS none of this is to be used for blackmail, okay? I'm high on chai.
